Like many gifted musicians, Danny’s passion and flair for music became
evident very early on in life - picking out nursery rhymes and popular
tunes on his Great Grandmother’s piano. However, unlike most, it was a
love of Star Wars that saw him make the transition from merely tinkering
to his destined path when his parents bribed him to take piano lessons
in return from a much craved light sabre.
The rest as they say is history.
Danny’s life in the performing arts began with a local charity group,
playing mainly Music Hall and Wartime songs to the elderly. Yet despite
being somewhat out of his comfort zone it was during this time that
Danny had his eyes opened to a world of music beyond the confinement and
structure of his piano teacher’s living room, and suddenly he could see
a future paving its way before him.
Understanding that passion alone could not see his dreams become
reality, Danny underwent formal training at the Leeds College of Music.
By pure happenstance it was at this time that he was presented with the
opportunity to take a seat in the Orchestra pit at The Grand Theatre,
for Leeds Thespians’ production of “42nd Street”. Walking through those
theatre doors was an under confident teenager, unsure of both himself
and his talents; 15 years later and Danny continues to perform
throughout West Yorkshire, thriving as resident pianist and MD to many
local societies.
Despite his passion for theatre, which peaked in June 2010 when he MD’d
LIDOS’s acclaimed Little Shop of Horrors, to near sold out audiences,
Danny’s talents spread far beyond the role of a ‘pit’ musician.
